Chairman's Message

Peter Leaver

There has been much to occupy the society over the few months since the last newsletter, and the next few months also promise to be extremely busy.

Of fundamental importance to the Society, and to every amenity society in the country, is the Localism Bill, which, if passed, will materially change the way in which local authorities and amenity societies operate.

The Bill itself has led to the Council issuing a large volume of consultative documents, all of which have required detailed consideration from members of the Executive Committee. Once again, I am happy to pay tribute to the enormous efforts made by the members of the Planning Committee and, to an only slightly lesser extent, the Traffic Committee.
